About the Department

The Town of Ridgeland Fire Department is currently one fire station located at 49 South Railroad Avenue in Ridgeland, South Carolina. Our department is an ISO class 3. We have 11 full time firefighters with 9 shift Firefighters and 2 administration staff. In addition, we currently have 8 volunteers and 6 cadets in the Junior Program. We have three Fire Engines, one Tanker, one Rescue vehicle and two command vehicles. We pride ourselves on being very involved in the community with Public Education, which includes 1,300 children in surrounding schools each year and approximately 20 events in Town where education is taught to adults and senior adults.

Why Ridgeland Fire Department?

The Ridgeland Fire Department has been a beacon in the community with volunteers. Through the years of having a volunteer program, many volunteers have come through Ridgeland Fire Department and started careers in the surrounding area. Our department offers a great place to come and learn about the Fire service with many complex calls, community outreach, and personal growth.

Services:

  • Hazmat—We provide basic scene security, hazmat awareness, identification of product and any decon of contracted Hazmat Team. Hilton Head Fire Rescue is contracted to provide services for Hazmat.

 

Benefits:

  • Flexible Shifts—We have full time firefighters that work a 24-hour period with 48 hours off. The Volunteer and Junior program is a flexible shift where they provided a place to stay while volunteering.
