About the Department

Greenwood County Emergency Services is comprised of 12 volunteer fire departments, and 26 part-time firefighters who work Monday through Friday from 7 A.M. to 7 P.M.

Why Greenwood County Emergency Services?

Greenwood County Fire Services is an all volunteer service with the exception of paid part-time firefighters who work Monday through Friday to help support the volunteer stations. Greenwood County is always recruiting more people to become volunteer firefighters. Prospective members can receive free training all the way from fire prevention programs to interior structural firefighting. There are many training opportunities available through the South Carolina Fire Academy and can be coordinated through your local fire department or the fire coordinators office.

Many departments have received multiple grants to purchase apparatus, gear, equipment etc. These are things that a person with no experience whatsoever can come in, receive training, become certified and be able to use these life saving tools. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things! Greenwood County is a BOOMING community and with that comes increased call volume. We need more volunteers to help meet the demands of rising call volumes and sometimes limited personnel. There is a job for EVERYONE who wishes to serve and we need willing men and women with a passion for service and a heart for people to help grow our service.
