About the Department

Nestled in the Southwest Corner of Pickens County, Central Fire Department serves the Town of Central and the Central Rural Fire District. The district covers approximately 48 square miles, we cover a little bit of everything which includes Southern Wesleyan University, we also cover miles of track for Norfolk Southern Railway. Highway 123 runs through the heart of our coverage area, we cover parts of Lake Hartwell and forest land for Clemson University. We provide automatic aid for Clemson University Fire and EMS, along with other close by agencies. We offer Training through the South Carolina Fire Academy, you will also have the opportunity to be a part of special Pickens County teams like Hazmat, Technical Rescue and Water Response.
