About the Department

The Anderson County Fire Service was initiated as a Farm Bureau Project in 1961. That year, state legislation that created and governed the Fire System was placed in the Code of Laws. Currently, the task of fire protection is accomplished by more than 870 volunteer firefighters responding from 28 stations throughout Anderson County. These dedicated firefighters along with the Headquarters staff responded to over 4000 emergency calls in 2014. Our current fleet of apparatus consists of 61 engines, 28 tankers, 30 grass trucks, 3 ladder trucks, and numerous service vehicles.

Why Anderson County Volunteer Fire Department?

When our fire company responds to a fire or any other emergency, it requires many trained personnel to effectively protect our own community, residence, and our own firefighters. With more volunteers it will allow us to have more resources on scene which in return we will be better equipped to handle the emergency faster, effectively, and most of all safer.

Volunteer firefighting is a very rewarding and valuable way to serve your community. It takes dedication and many hours of training to become a firefighter. If you’re willing to put in the time and effort, there is a department ready for you to serve. Becoming a volunteer firefighter takes time, effort and dedication; however, the benefits of saving lives and making your community a better place is worth every minute and every ounce of effort.
