The Townville Volunteer Fire Department provides fire suppression, and rescue / extrication, and Hazmat first response services to a first due population of approximately 4,000 covering 23 square miles. Our district is mostly agricultural and residential, with some light industry, and several commercial businesses. Interstate 85 is also within our first due area, as will cover 10 miles of the highway. We also provide automatic aid to four other fire districts, and an additional 12,000+ residents. We pride ourselves on being a proficient, aggressive but disciplined, compassionate, and community minded department. Our goal is to provide the best possible services to our community.

We also emphasize having great public relations while promoting, hosting, or providing assistance in the following events annually: Fire Prevention and Safety at Townville Elementary, Car and Tractor Show, Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Truck or Treat, Townville Elementary Turkey Trot 5K, Visits to area churches and civic groups, and a Christmas Parade. We have a very close relationship with Fork Rescue Squad, our EMS provider, and provide and host several events, services, and apparatus as a partnership including public education, rescue / extrication services, and water rescue. Additionally, we work and train with neighboring departments, including Law Enforcement and EMS, to ensure a smooth operation in the event of a multi agency response.

We pride ourselves on being a community first department. Individuals looking to join our ranks should not only have a desire to help their fellow man by operational responses, but also by participating in numerous community projects and events. We believe this approach gives the volunteer a great sense of community, and overall sense of selflessness as they give back to their neighbors. From an operational prospective, we average around 20 working structure fires, multiple extrication’s along the I-85 corridor, and several water/rescue related calls annually. We have recently purchased a Heavy Rescue Truck to replace our current one, and it will be in service soon with an assortment of hydraulic tools, stabilization and lifting equipment, water rescue / dive gear, RIT , ventilation, Haz-Mat, and Gas monitoring equipment. In November, we are due to receive a new Pierce 4 door Commercial 1500 GPM/ 1000 Water, Engine. Additionally, we are in the final stages of completing our new station with ample living, meeting, and training areas. A sub station around the Hwy 24, 243, and I-85 intersection is also in the works.
